palmetto Christian Academy Robotics club

A picture says a thousand words, and Palmetto Christian Academy’s first-year robotics team supplied the picture.

Team Data, the PCAG Robotics Team, competed in the South Carolina FIRST LEGO League Championship at Clemson University on February 21.

The team placed 30th out 80 teams.

PCAG placed ninth out of 36 teams in the Lowcountry State Regional Qualifier at Trident Tech in Charleston and thus qualified for the state finals. They even snagged some press coverage with one of those perfectly timed action photographs (shown at right). The photo appeared in the Charleston Post and Courier.

The team garnered a second-place award for teamwork at the LEGO League Scrimmage at the Greenwood Mall.

The club meets every Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Club sponsors are Dr. George Schwab and Mrs. Amy Brady. Dr. Schwab is a Professor of Old Testament at Erskine Theological Seminary. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Drexel University and had a 17-year career as an electrical engineer. He has a patented device to his credit.

Mrs. Brady is a stay-at-home mother of two children. She has a Bachelor of Science from North Carolina State University in Paper and Pulp Technology (applied chemical engineering) and had an engineering career.
