Spiritual formation

As a Christian educational institution, we are concerned with the spiritual development of our students as well as their academic development.  True spiritual formation can only take place in the life of one who has repented of his sin and entered into a relationship with Jesus Christ.  It is only through the indwelling of His Holy Spirit that our lives can genuinely be affected and we can become more and more like Christ.  It is our desire, therefore, that each student, through the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit, yields his life to Christ.

Once students have entered into a relationship with Christ, we, along with the students’ parents and home church, will do all we can to assist the students to grow in their faith, to “work out” their salvation (Philippians 2:12). We will encourage our students to engage in classical spiritual disciplines such as daily reading of Scripture, prayer, meditation, regular participation in corporate worship, and maintaining active membership in a home church.  Our faculty and staff will serve as encouragers and models of mature Christian faith.  As our students continue to grow in their faith, we expect to see evidence of these Christian traits in our students:

Love - demonstrating a selfless regard for others. (John 15: 12 – 13, I Corinthians 13)

Obedience - humbly submitting to those who have been placed by God in positions of authority over us. (Romans 13: 1-7, Ephesians 6: 1-4)

Humility - considering others more highly than ourselves; recognizing that all good and perfect gifts are from our Father in heaven. (Matthew 11: 28-30, Philippians 2: 3, Colossians 3: 12)

Self-control - exercising restraint over our impulses, desires, and emotions. (Titus 1: 8, 2: 12, 2 Peter 1: 5-6)

Eternal Values - living in the light of eternity, not the urgency of the moment. (Matthew 6: 19-20, Hebrews 11: 1-3)

Respect - esteeming our elders and all those in authority. (Romans 13: 1-7, I Peter 2: 13-21)

Integrity - being complete or undivided; reflecting honesty, trustworthiness, and morality in all areas of life. (Psalm 15, Proverbs 11:3, 20:11, James 5:12)

Wisdom - discerning what is true from God’s perspective; developing reverence for the Lord and heeding godly correction. (Proverbs 1: 1-7, 2: 1-22, 4:7)

Thankfulness - exhibiting a grateful heart in all circumstances. (Philippians 4: 6, I Thessalonians 5: 18)

Perseverance - learning not to quit; staying on task and completing the assignment. (I Corinthians 15: 58, 2 Timothy 4: 7-8)God has made parents the primary educators of their children. When parents choose to enroll their children in Palmetto Christian Academy, they do not abdicate their God-given responsibility for educating their children, but rather join with the school in obeying God’s command.
