Testimonials about Palmetto christian

“People always asked me, ‘How do you feel about going to Palmetto Christian Academy to be the only senior?’ I did not know what to expect about going to a new school for my senior year. I figured it was not a big deal to go to this new school for one last year because I kept telling myself, ‘It’s just one year, and it will help me transition for the next year to college. It’s no big deal.’”

“However, my time at PCA was more than ‘just one year’ at a new school. My time at PCA was very special. I made friends of all ages. I experienced the role of being a leader and trying to set a good example for my fellow students. I had opportunities to try new things that I never would have wanted to do before, such as yearbook and cross country. I was challenged academically. After all, I did manage to become valedictorian. I am proud to say that I left Palmetto Christian Academy with a new appreciation for education, school family, and Christian community.”

-- Carolyne Cain (2009 PCAG graduate and Covenant College freshman)

“We knew our son was smart. Someone just needed to find the key to his learning style. It’s hard to find that key when your child is in a large classroom setting and the teacher doesn’t have enough time to learn how to meet your child’s specific needs. Thank God for PCAG. We saw the true potential of our son flourish immediately after he entered the school. Now, instead of being frustrated by learning, he’s enjoying it and is excited to be at school. It took a small class size and an experienced teacher to plant the seed for Cameron’s success.

“We thought money was going to be an issue. Don’t we all? Our daughter was already attending PCAG, and we didn’t know how we could afford to send a second child. But we prayed and asked God to provide -- and He did. He always has for us. Throughout our lives He has provided for us when we are faithful to Him, and this time was no different. Sure, we gave up a night or two of eating out and a few minor, unimportant things; but, when we weighed those things against our son’s education, we knew which was most important: As one of our board members said, ‘You only get one chance to get your child’s education right.’ We realized that and decided that money simply would not stand in the way of providing our daughter and son the best education available. Funny thing is, we don’t seem to miss those dinners out. We can just look at our son’s enthusiasm about school and smile.”

“We leaned heavily on the words of Christ in His Sermon on the Mount:

"Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor

about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?

Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly

Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?  (Matthew 6:25-26).

“As for our daughter, Taylor: She was making straight As at her former school and felt like she wanted more. ‘I would rather make Bs and feel like I really learned something than make As and feel like I didn’t.’ PCAG was the right choice, so we enrolled her there after 10 years at another school. She was immediately challenged with all-important critical thinking skills and a history course that was taught on an intense college-level pace. It was difficult to adapt, but with our support and the support of friends and faculty at PCAG -- student-to-student academic support is great at this school -- Taylor made it through and even made an A in that history class. She is able to apply what she learned in history to everyday life, meaning she learned more than facts -- she learned how to think critically about the world we live in today based on the mistakes and successes of others. She feels ready to tackle high school after next year, knowing she is being prepared emotionally, spiritually and academically to handle college. The students at PCAG hold each other accountable both academically and spiritually.”

PCAG prepared 2009 graduate for college

Money not a concern when you are led by faith

When I’m asked why our children are at Palmetto Christian Academy of Greenwood, I tell people that it’s simply an investment in our children’s lives. By choosing PCAG, my husband and I have chosen a school which helps shape our children’s thinking, helps them reach their academic potential, and helps them develop maturity as they grow into adulthood.

“At Palmetto Christian, our children are taught to think as Christians in
light of the truths of God’s Word as they learn math, history, science,
and all of the major subjects. They are challenged to consider how, as
Christians, they should respond to the world around them. Their
teachers, faculty, and fellow students serve as examples to them as well
as challenging them to think as believers, applying truth in practical
living.

“The curriculum at PCAG is designed to challenge each child to reach his full potential in academics. Our children have been encouraged to learn through various teaching forms, including written, visual, manual, and oral learning techniques. Understanding each child’s learning strengths and weaknesses, as well as the unique academic potential in each child, the teachers at PCAG have used their gifts and creative abilities to bring out the best in our children.

“As a parent, it’s important to me to see personal growth in our children. At PCAG, our children have grown in serving and giving as they’ve had opportunities in the classroom and also outside of the classroom. The family atmosphere provides many occasions for humble service toward younger children and coming together as a team to serve the whole. On any given day, one might see high school cross country runners encouraging middle school runners, volunteer child care and coaching, parent-led robotics and junior garden clubs, sharing of musical and other talents, and heartfelt prayer and praise. It’s just what Christian parents want for their children’s growth and maturity.

“As parents we want what’s best for our children, and we want the education which will best shape their thinking, best reach their academic potential, and best develop their maturity. When we chose Palmetto Christian Academy of Greenwood, we chose to invest in our children’s lives, and it’s been the best investment we could have made.”

“We have three children enrolled this year (2009-2010) at PCAG. We knew there would be challenges coming from a public school and with the increased learning expectations. All of our kids have to work hard for good grades.

“One has been on the A/B honor roll both semesters. The other two are striving to meet their personal goals. The extra attention they are getting in the small class size is catching them up from the delays they had coming into PCAG.

“It is very apparent that the faculty and staff show the love of Christ to our children every day.”

“Peace of mind … peace of heart … peace of soul.

“Peace for the future because my child was educated with a Biblical view and will be prepared for the world.”

  1. -Tammy Williams (parent of eighth-grade student)

“Palmetto Christian has created an environment where my children do not 'have' to go to school, but are excited about going to school.

“My elementary kids are becoming confident public speakers who enjoy being in front of groups.”

  1. -Brian Moore (parent of K5, third-grade and fourth-grade students)

“When PCAG saw the need for after-school care for my family, they committed to meet my need and provide care until 5:30 p.m. every day. Homework is a priority and I truly appreciate that it is done at the after-school program.”
